The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has released an online tool to support its Guidance for repairing and rebuilding homes in Canterbury.

The Canterbury Residential Guidance itself is for people and organisations involved in the Canterbury rebuild, including engineers, architects, designers, building consent authorities and project management offices. These people and organisations all follow the MBIE guidance, to ensure that all residential construction work is completed to the appropriate standard.

The online tool is called Getting to grips with the Canterbury Residential Guidance and can be found here.

This user-friendly tool is especially valuable for people who are unfamiliar with the Guidance, providing clear explanations of how the document itself works, how the different Technical Categories (or TCs) for land work, how damage is assessed, and more. This knowledge will help you to understand more about how the work on your own property takes place, and how it all fits together.
